Cerita Pendek (Short Story)

A simple text describing Malaysia's identity.

Negara Malaysia (The Nation of Malaysia)

Sejarah Malaysia adalah sangat menarik. Sebelum mencapai kemerdekaan pada tahun 1957, negara ini pernah mengalami zaman penjajahan. Kini, Malaysia mempunyai kerajaan sendiri. (...kuh-mur-day-kah-ahn... puhn-jah-jah-hahn... kuh-rah-jah-ahn...)

Malaysia terkenal dengan masyarakatnya yang berbilang kaum. Terdapat kaum Melayu, Cina, India, dan lain-lain. (...bur-bee-lahng kowm...)

Walaupun berbeza budaya, kami semua adalah satu bangsa, iaitu Bangsa Malaysia. Kami hidup dengan aman dan harmoni. (...bur-bay-zah boo-dah-yah, kah-mee suh-moo-ah ah-dah-lah sah-too bahng-sah...)

The Nation of Malaysia (Translation)

The history of Malaysia is very interesting. Before achieving independence in 1957, this country once experienced an era of colonization. Now, Malaysia has its own government.

Malaysia is famous for its multi-racial society. There are the Malay, Chinese, Indian, and other ethnic groups.

Even though our cultures are different, we are all one nation, which is the Malaysian Nation. We live peacefully and harmoniously.

Looking Ahead

Bagus! You now have a better context for the history and people behind the language. While history is important, so is creativity. In the next chapter, we will explore Penulisan Kreatif (Creative Writing) to see how language is used to build stories and express ideas in a more artistic way.
